Retired Female | Advised to start medication and seeking healthier option
After years of being told by my Doctor, and more recently a Cardiologist, that I would never be able to get my high cholesterol under control, because it is genetic, (meaning total cholesterol under 200, and LDL under 100), without taking a Statin, I decided to accept this challenge and searched for a Functional Medicine Nutritionist. I luckily found, Mary Beth McCue, to help me with this challenge. To say she has changed my life is an understatement! In only 3 months of following her protocols of changing the way I have been eating (which I thought was healthy) and taking her recommended supplements, I have been able to get my total cholesterol down from 255 to 186 and my LDL from 172 to 108! I’m also positive that when I repeat my bloodwork, this Summer, my LDL will be under 100 and my total cholesterol will be even lower. Mary Beth is very knowledgable in the Functional Medicine approach, which was exactly what I was looking for. I have learned so much from Mary Beth, already, and always look forward to our sessions. I highly recommend, Mary Beth, whether you are local or remote. All of my sessions were online. I am forever grateful to have found Mary Beth and highly recommend her to anyone who is struggling with their cholesterol and the decision whether to take a Statin or not. Thank you again Mary Beth. I am forever grateful I found you.

College Athlete | Complaint of Fatigue
“I figured I was pretty much out of options until Mary Beth informed me about specific issues in my diet that I needed to modify, and nutrient deficiencies I needed to address and resolve. I hadn’t realized the importance of cell reactions and the nutrients needed for them to occur. After making these changes, I felt a lot more energized and was actually looking forward to my afternoon run rather than dreading it like I had before. I'm now feeling fresh from the start and a lot happier in general! Thank YOU!"

Energy Worker | Desire for Overall Well-Being, Happiness
"Thanks, Mary Beth. I have recommended you to quite a few people. I KNOW that your services led to an increase in my overall well-being that led me one day to realize that I had been happy for several weeks, happier than I had felt in a long time. Nothing else in my life had changed, and yet before I followed your regimen, I was conscious of having felt annoyed, disgruntled, and not buoyant. And yet there I was, happy all the time. I had truly never realized how crucial nutritional balance is to health, and what true health can feel like! I am looking at some new challenges in my life now and have been thinking that perhaps I should come back for round two.”

Teenager | Hospitalized for Eating Disorders, Anorexia & vegetarianism extremes
"After several months of being hospitalized for anorexia and working with dietitians on a regular basis, my daughter never wanted to see a dietitian again. I have to tell you how very much I appreciate your calm, non-judgmental character. I learned a lot from watching you. You are really a good fit for my daughter who, as you have accurately pointed out, has trouble gracefully accepting the suggestions and advice of others. I must tell you what she said as we drove away from seeing you the other day: ‘She really gets me.’
Thanks again for your respectful prodding and focused insight. High marks for you not stomping off when the insults came, but rather calling her attention to it briefly and then moving on. Your honesty and compassion really shine through and I hope that she can see this and grow to trust you more. This is scary stuff for her and it is always a fine line when to push and when to back off."

Retired Female | Stress, Weight Gain, GI Imbalance, Low Energy
"Mary Beth came into my life at the right time following two years of intense care-giving and a weight gain of over 15 pounds. I was stress eating, tired, bloated, overweight, and realistically concerned about how I looked or felt. After two short months,I am on a path to wellness, with a healthy approach to a meal plan and movement towards incorporating peace, mindfulness and meditation in my life. Mary Beth is a "Guide on the Side", not a "Sage on the Stage". She expertly transmits her knowledge in a way that is meaningful, allows me to think and make my own choices and believe in myself as a partner in my wellness. I never felt rushed or any question or concern was foolish or unfounded. She is the right person for me, and knows how to help me stay on track. Thank you, Mary Beth, for your skills and guiding me on my journey. “Together, we can."

Excerpt of a newspaper article
“For years I suffered from joint pain, dizziness, insomnia, headaches, bloat, nausea, weakness, fatigue, constipation, sweet cravings, poor memory, mood swings, extreme anger, frequent urination, PMS, and recurring vaginal yeast infections. My doctors and specialist told me symptoms were from my MS. I was on many meds and supplements and taking more than twenty pills a day. My MD did a battery of tests, sent me to three specialist, and I didn’t receive any help. My OB/GYN suggested Mary Beth. She put me on a personalized GI restoration plan with minimal supplements. I healed my symptoms in five months, looked and felt decades younger. We testing pre and post treatment symptoms and they dropped 90 %.
The results were astonishing given the decades I had the illness’s, compared to the several months it took my body to restore while on my new lifestyle plan. I couldn’t believe that someone actually put things together with such ease. I asked Mar Beth, “How do you know that (the Yeast Syndrome) is what I have?” She explained my symptoms and reassured me that I would feel so much better, but that it would take time and some work. She made sure that I put into perspective the facts of how long I had suffered but that my healing would not take as long. All of the money that my insurance company paid to try and find out what was wrong with me was a waste. They never found the true diagnosis. They did give me pills for my symptoms, but never found the root of my problem to allow me to regain my health. A battle won !

This is a summary of original article.
Thank You Mary Beth !
I had a lifetime of stomach aches, nausea, vomiting and just not feeling well. As a child I was called a hypochondriac. Illness became “Who I was” and I saw doctors throughout my whole life.
Following having children my health declined more and differently. I had fatigue, blood sugar problems, hypothyroid, compromised immune and was sick all the time. I eventually was diagnosed with celiac disease. I followed a gluten free diet and got worse. I was very nauseous, got sick more often and had random bouts of vomiting that would last a few hours. I was drained of the little energy I had. I was losing weight, had discomfort in my side and was feeling sad and down because I knew that something just wasn’t right.
I found Mary Beth while searching for a dietitian. I was emotionally and physically sick when I met her. Mary Beth was familiar with my symptoms and confident that she could help me. She gave me a lot of information. She put me on a personalized versions of elimination/anti inflammatory diet and a supplement protocol. Within the first week of seeing her I developed and was treated with mononucleosis. I called her and she assured me that this was ok, and was part of my process towards health and healing. So I kept taking the supplements and sticking to the specific diet.
At the end of my second month I was stronger and noticed changes in my body. I was less achy, more clear headed and thinking straighter. My body was healing and I could see it right before my eyes. Old surgery scars even healed. I knew without a doubt my body was finally starting to get what it needed and I was going to be ok. I saw Mary Beth every couple of weeks. I needed the support, and still do from someone who has been through this. She understands me, supported and lead me in the right direction.
My husband and I agreed that it has been the best investment we have made. I can assure you that this journey was a small fee for getting my life back. Before I met Mary Beth I couldn’t go out or have friends over because I was just too tired and sick to think about socializing. I barley could get through the day and I certainly was not the mother or wife I wanted to be. I continue with a new healthier lifestyle and embracing Mary Beths positive outlook.

Wisdom of Self-Care Integrative Community Symposium
“Mary Beths workshop “The Wisdom of Self-Care”, was presented with the support of over two dozen integrative health and medicine providers and exhibitors. It was excellent.
The subject matter over the day ranged from meditation to Functional Medicine to organic farming. The Food as Medicine meal was wonderful and a real bonus. The speakers were engaging and informative. I left with great tools to support my health, and to apply in my clinical work such as getting through the challenges of the COVID 19 pandemic as a critical care nurse.
I look forward to attending future presentations offered by her.”
